How does workplace giving help OzHarvest?

Workplace giving to OzHarvest allow employees the opportunity to make a significant impact on the work of OzHarvest by donating money on a regular basis through their payroll system.

A workplace giving program allows you to make a difference to the work OzHarvest does every pay cycle. Your donation will be used to provide meals to people at risk and disadvantaged in our community and allows us to plan for certainty. This certainty translates into certainty for the charities we support. They are able to redirect more of their limited funds away from food budgets to programs that educate, rehabilitate and help their clients.

Many companies also have a matching giving program, through which they will match staff donations, which gives OzHarvest and our food recipients further benefit.

Benefits to Employee

The donation amount to OzHarvest is deducted from your pre-tax salary for each pay period therefore most people get an immediate tax benefit each time they donate.

Rather than a large one off donation, donations are spread over the course of the year in a tax efficient way. You do not need to keep receipts or wait for the end of the financial year to claim a tax benefit for these donations.

- Find out if your employer has a workplace giving program in place. If so, let your work know you would like to donate to OzHarvest through the workplace giving program by way of payroll deduction.

- Your company will collate and send all employee donations to OzHarvest on a regular basis, plus any matching donations, as a lump sum. This simple, single transaction saves OzHarvest administrative costs and allows us to direct more funding to feeding those in need.
