Our Impact

30/5/12 MasterChef - OzHarvest Challenge

The OzHarvest challenge saw 20 MasterChef contestants rescue food from 20 of our generous food donors including some of Sydney's best restaurants. The contestants then utilised rescued food to prepare a 3 course lunch for 25 distinguished guests, including our own Ronni Kahn, some of OzHarvest's major corporate supporters and luminaries of the food industry including Jill Dupleix, Terry Durack, Miccal Cummins (Gastronomy), Matt Kemp (Montpellier Public House), Somer Sivrioglu (Efendy) and Jeremy Strode (Bistrode) amongst others.

The guests put a dollar value on each course according to its merit, with all proceeds raised being donated to OzHarvest. An amazing $32,000 was raised, including an extremely generous donation in the amount of $20,000 from Commonwealth Bank 'Women in Focus' - for a Fish Pie!

This episode was a major boost for OzHarvest's profile on a national level, with our yellow vans and our name featuring prominently throughout the 90 minute episode.

MasterChef has supported OzHarvest since 2010 and continues to donate excess food from their film sets on a regular basis.
