Our Impact

OzHarvest and NSW Farmers partner to educate kids and parents about the origins of food at the Sydney Royal Easter Show

OzHarvest, Australia's leading food resue organisation, has teamed up with NSW Farmers to educate parents and kids about the origins of food, food waste and healthy eating at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, open until 23 April.

OzHarvest will also be launching their new Nutrition Education Sustenance Training (NEST) program materials, supported by the Department of Social Services, where volunteers will be testing kids as well as their parents on the different food groups, good fats versus bad fats, and challenging their knowledge on different vegetables.

The attractive new-look NEST materials have been carefully crafted by the team at Touch Marketing to inspire people to learn more about food nutrition and healthy eating - providing Nice, Easy, Simple Tips to eat better and feel better.

The Spices Guessing Game will aim to test those who claim to be spice connoisseurs on the difference between cinnamon and cloves, turmeric and cumin.

Through fun, interactive and engaging activities, OzHarvest aims to educate the general public, especially youth, on their work in food rescue, food security and sustainability as well as nutrition.

The OzHarvest stand is located at the Food Farm area until 23 April.

OzHarvest volunteers will be working with RAS to collect any surplus food from the Sydney Royal Easter Showground.
