Team Building with Soul and Purpose!
If you’ve been searching for a team building with a difference, then look no further. OzHarvest’s Cooking for a Cause is a hands-on cooking class open to groups of all sizes. Led by the lovely OzHarvest chefs, teams get busy in the kitchen transforming rescued food into restaurant-quality meals that are then delivered directly to disadvantaged communities.
In addition to bonding over a big pot of soup and experiencing the joy of chopping an onion properly your team will take away practical kitchen skills and the knowledge that they have made a real difference, allowing those less fortunate to eat with dignity.
Corporate Engagement and Partnerships
CEO CookOff is OzHarvest’s flagship fundraising event where the country’s top CEOs and senior business leaders swap the boardroom for kitchen, teaming up with Australia’s top chefs to prepare a delicious dinner for over a thousand vulnerable people and raise funds to support OzHarvest.
This event would not be possible without our amazing corporate partners or the fantastic fundraising efforts of the participating CEOs and business leaders and their supporters. In five years it has raised over $5 million allowing us to deliver 10 million meals to those in need and expand our nutrition, education and hospitality training programs.
Organise a Food Drive
Many charity agencies are in need of food items for hampers, some deliver over 100 food hampers to families in need every month! Offices, schools, community groups or places of worship can help us meet this need by running a food drive to collect non-perishable food items to be donated to OzHarvest.
All types of canned and packaged goods within use-by date can be collected. Please do not donate fresh/perishable produce or foods containing alcohol (e.g. Christmas pudding). Download the OzHarvest Food Drive and Hampers Kit to help you get started.
Five easy steps to planning a food drive:
- Choose a date and a secure/highly visible collection site
- Send out an email, put up posters and get the word out to encourage people to bring in items.
- Organise a working bee to pack the items into hampers/parcels for distribution, ideally in a supermarket eco bag or boxes. Do not seal or overfill. Try to pack a variety of items in each hamper.
- An OzHarvest representative can visit your organisation during your working day to speak to your team about food waste and food insecurity, and the role that OzHarvest plays in the community.
- Call 1800 108 006 and arrange a pick-up date for the OzHarvest van to collect the donations.

To help us fight food waste, we need teamwork! There are lots of different ways to run a workplace challenge such as bringing in Leftover Lunches, Bake-Overs, Surplus Soup or Zero Waste Wednesdays.
