OzHarvest Hamper Stories
When Uniting contacted our Sydney team for urgent food relief, OzHarvest jumped into action. The OzHarvest team stayed late packing 170 fresh food hampers and 76 cooked meals which were delivered the next day and distributed by local health district staff to ensure people have food over the weekend.
OzHarvest provides Bankstown women’s health centre with 30 food hampers on fortnightly basis since the beginning of COVID-19 in 2020. OzHarvest never hesitated, when we requested more food hampers for Canterbury Bankstown community during the new restrictions and the harsher lock down laws.
Bankstown Women’s Health
We have seen a huge increase in carers seeking food relief for their clients and we are meeting a huge amount of new people as they have lost their job and seeking help for the first time in their lives. We know this is the only time they are leaving their house that day so we hope to greet everyone with respect as we navigate this hard time together.

On behalf of the Samoan Church of the Nazarene Sydney, I would like to express once again, our appreciation and gratitude for your support of hampers over these months. Surely it was a big help to us in order to serve others- those who are really in need of food in our community. Lastly, many thanks to all your happy truck drivers/workers who delivered the hampers for us each week.

What a huge difference the privilege of being included in OzHarvest’s program has made to Carevan Blacktown and the people we serve. The hampers are met with great expectation each week and are a welcome addition to stretched household budgets and pantries and we simply cannot thank you, and all those involved, enough for this generosity.
