FAQ

Before registering your interest to hold a Food Drive for OzHarvest please read through the FAQs below! Once you have registered your interest, a team member will be in touch with next steps to get you started.

We’ve put together this useful guide to help you get started.

  • Non-perishable food like pasta, rice, canned fruits, vegetables and tuna, tinned or jarred sauces and casseroles, biscuits, tea and coffee, cereals, muesli bars
  • Ring pull cans are preferred over can-opener style packaging
  • No products containing alcohol, even at trace amounts. That means no wine or wine vinegars.
  • No longlife items that are more than 30 days past Best Before.
  • Use strong boxes that have plenty of packing tape on them.
  • All food to be boxed up – do not use bags, even if they are reusable shopping bags, as these cannot be stacked in our van and may roll around and break in transit.
  • Packed boxes to weigh no more than 10kg, even if this means you have to pack a few more boxes, as this will help keep your team, our drivers and volunteers safe when moving the food drive items around.
  • Please make sure your Food Drive is ready for a speedy collection by our big yellow van. We greatly appreciate your help in making the process efficient at this busy time.
  • Please note that we cannot collect from residential addresses.
  • Our drivers work hard to prioritise the rescue of fresh, perishable produce. We ask that you have a minimum of 20 kg to donate. If not, please consider dropping off your food drive donation to our office/warehouse.
  • If you’re able to drop off your non-perishable goods, we’d love to see you! If not, we will try our best to reach you with one of our yellow vans.
  • If holding food drives across multiple locations, please submit a request for each location so that we can share those details with the right teams.
