Over $100,000 raised for OzHarvest Newcastle!
by OzAdmin
$103,955.00 was raised at our Seven Successful Years of OzHarvest in Newcastle fundraising luncheon! OzHarvest Newcastle Manager, Monique Maguire, and the team were overwhelmed by the support and generosity in the room at the sensational Merewether Surfhouse. The funds will help OzHarvest Newcastle continue its work rescuing surplus food to feed local people in need.
With Mother Nature turning on the sunshine, OzHarvest founder & CEO, Ronni Kahn joined 150 guests for a spectacular five course meal prepared by five amazing Newcastle chefs who generously donated their time: Daintree Barramundi with a spicy, sweet miso and soy poached daikon with pickled ginger; oven roast chicken with jerusalem artichoke; beef cheeks in red wine, celeriac, green peppercorns and pickled bombini garden turnips; mulberries, honeycomb, fig leaf cream and meringue.
Thank you to the amazing chefs Ryan Baird of Merewether Surfhouse and Parry St Garage; Leigh Boys from Scratchleys and Battlesticks At Scratchleys; Troy Rhoades-Brown from Muse Restaurant and Muse Kitchen; Cameron Cansdell from Bombini and Fish Dining; and Gareth Williams from Restaurant Mason.
Live auctions, conducted by the fantastic Jason Maxwell (Raine & Horne Newcastle & Stockton), saw lots of spirited bidding raising valuable funds!
