OzHarvest Newcastle turns 5

On Sunday 18 October 2015, OzHarvest Newcastle celebrated our 5th birthday with a fundraising luncheon at the sensational Merewether Surfhouse. The luncheon offered a unique dining experience for guests as they were treated to a delicious course from six of the region’s best chefs with each course unique and deliciously different – complemented by matching wines.

Six wonderful & talented chefs donated their time and produce for the event. Thanks to Ryan Baird from Merewether Surfhouse ; Mark Hosie from Rustica Newcastle Beach, Chris Thornton from Restaurant Mason; Troy Rhoades-Brown from Muse Dining; Leslie Taylor from Hobarts Restaurant and Tim Montgomery formerly of Bacchus Restaurant. The Essential Ingredient Newcastle provided a selection of delicious cheeses to complete the meal. When chefs, producers, suppliers, volunteers and the food industry come together to support our cause we are truly blown away by the generosity and passion that is shown.

The event was a huge success, raising over $76,000 through ticket sales, auction prizes & raffle tickets sold. Thank you to Kaisey Johnston, Event Manager at Surfhouse and her professional team for the amazing venue and for putting together the room so beautifully. Thank you to Danni & the wait staff from Scratchleys. Thanks to Jason Maxwell from Raine & Horne Newcastle (Real Estate) for using your amazing auctioneering skills to achieve the highest price for our auction items. Thank you to all of our guests for your generosity. We hope you enjoyed yourselves and we hope to see you all again next year.
