by OzAdmin

OzHarvest, Australia’s leading food rescue organisation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Brett Gale to its Board of Directors, effective immediately. Brett Gale brings over 30 years of extensive experience across government, corporate and not-for-profit sectors, with a proven track record in public policy, strategic planning, and corporate affairs. His expertise in government relations and securing funding for purpose-driven initiatives will be invaluable to OzHarvest as it continues to expand its impact across Australia.

“I am honoured to join the Board of OzHarvest, an organisation that has made such a profound difference in addressing food insecurity while tackling the environmental impact of food waste,” said Brett Gale. ” I’ve seen firsthand how strategic government engagement and evidence-based advocacy can drive meaningful social change and I look forward to contributing to OzHarvest’s vital mission and helping expand its remarkable work.”

Brett most recently served as Chief of Staff to the Minister for Industry and Science, Ed Husic, and prior to that was Executive Director of Government & Stakeholder Relations at Lifeline Australia, where he led successful advocacy campaigns to secure increased funding support, and helped establish the world’s first national indigenous 24-hour support line.

OzHarvest Founder and CEO, Ronni Kahn AO, welcomed the appointment: “Brett’s extensive experience in government relations, policy development, and securing funding for impactful programs makes him an exceptional addition to our Board. His understanding of how to navigate complex government processes and his commitment to purpose-driven work aligns perfectly with OzHarvest’s mission to nourish our country. He is deeply respected by all sides of politics and we are thrilled to have his expertise as we continue to address food waste and hunger in Australia.”

Chair of OzHarvest, Lawrence Goldstone, added: “Brett’s appointment strengthens our governance capabilities at a crucial time in OzHarvest’s development. His deep understanding of government processes and budget mechanisms, combined with his experience in the not-for-profit sector, will be instrumental as we seek to expand our programs and influence policy related to food waste and food security.”

OzHarvest CEO, James Goth, commented: “Brett’s extensive network across government and industry sectors and proven success in securing funding for not-for-profit initiatives will help us amplify our impact. His strategic approach to stakeholder engagement and government relations comes at a perfect time as we look to scale our operations and programs to meet the growing need for food relief while championing food waste reduction across Australia.”

Brett holds a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney. He is currently the Principal of Fenway Communications and Advisory, where he advises corporate, government, and not-for-profit clients on government engagement, policy, and political strategies.
