OzHarvest Tree of Goodness back in Adelaide Central Market

by OzAdmin

Starting on the 18th of December, the OzHarvest Tree of Goodness will be back in the Adelaide Central Market to spread the OzHarvest love with Christmas shoppers during the ‘seven days of goodness’ before Christmas.

The Tree of Goodness is a fun way for market-goers to share some ‘food love’ this season – decorating The Tree during the last Market trading days before Christmas helps to put nutritious food on the tables of people in Adelaide that need it.

We will have a brightly coloured market stall where people can visit the Tree of Goodness, donate or purchase a Christmas gift and help to decorate the tree with yellow. For every item purchased or donation made, a decoration will be added to the tree, highlighting the number of meals contributed.

“Absolutely every dollar counts. Every dollar donated means we can deliver two more meals for men, women and children in our community who are doing it tough” said Hayley Everuss, State Manager of OzHarvest.

The aim of the Tree of Goodness is to make it easy for market-goers to embrace their generous spirit and help to nourish their community this season.

“It’s a bit of fun and it’s also very visual, you can literally see the tree becoming more and more festive in response to community goodwill,” Hayley added.

The OzHarvest Tree of Goodness market stall will be located next to SAMTASS at the Gouger Street end of the Market from Thursday morning 18 December until Christmas Eve. Market-goers can chat with volunteers in OzHarvest yellow, make a donation or purchase one of the items available which make fabulous Christmas gifts that keep on giving.

Items available for purchase include the newly released OzHarvest Cookbook ‘Urban Harvest’ which includes recipes from 50 top Australian chefs, as well as OzHarvest Tea Towels, Shopping Bags, Aprons, Key rings and – new this year – Gingerbread Cookies in the shape of a little OzHarvest food truck.

Thank you so much to the Adelaide Central Market and the stallholders for their ongoing support. Since we started collecting food surplus from the Market in June 2011 they have delivered more than 100,000 meals to people in need.

We look forward to seeing you all in the Market in the days leading up to Christmas to spread the OzHarvest love and season’s greetings!
