Make it easier to waste less
The Government has the power to introduce some key changes which could drastically cut the amount of food waste ending up in landfill:
- Shake up the food labelling system and end consumer confusion over best before and use by dates
- Ensure that businesses are signing up to measure and reduce their food waste
- Encourage farmers to donate more surplus food by introducing a National Food Waste Tax Incentive
- Stop food from going to landfill by speeding up the roll out green bins for households and invest more in organic waste processing infrastructure.
