Caramelised Banana French Toast

Turn your morning into something special with this indulgent caramelised banana French toast recipe. Thick slices of bread are soaked in a rich, lightly spiced egg mixture, then pan-fried until perfectly golden and crisp on the outside while staying soft and fluffy inside. The real star is the caramelised banana topping – sweet, buttery bananas cooked until golden and sticky, adding a natural sweetness and irresistible depth of flavour.

Need

French Toast:

2 eggs
½ cup milk
40g butter
8 slices of bread
1 Tsp Cinnamon
1 Tsp Vanilla essence
Maple Syrup or honey
Any cooking oil

Topping:

3-4 bananas
Caster sugar

 

How

  1. Whisk together eggs with milk, cinnamon and vanilla essence.
  2. Dip both sides of the bread slices into the in the egg mixture.
  3. Add butter and oil to a frypan on medium heat. Cook the bread on both sides until the surface is golden.
  4. Peel bananas and cut in half lengthways and sprinkle cut side of banana generously with caster sugar.
  5. Place banana in the same pan cut side down and cook for 2-3 minutes until caramelised – gently move around pan during cooking to prevent sticking
  6. Serve caramalised banana on top of the french toast warm with a drizzle of maple syrup or honey – Enjoy!
