OZHARVEST MOBILE MARKET DELIVERS FOOD RELIEF FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
OzHarvest SA have joined forces with StudyAdelaide and Insider Guides to assist international students in need with access to the OzHarvest Mobile Market.
In addition to continuing to support 1,300 charitable organisations around Australia daily with food relief, OzHarvest has extended its reach, to connect with vulnerable members of the community whose circumstances have changed since the COVID-19 pandemic.
After a successful trial at the start of July where nearly 1,000 international students received food hampers across Flinders University, TAFE SA Regency Campus, Hindmarsh Square Adelaide CBD and UniSA Mawson Lakes Campus, the OzHarvest Mobile Markets will continue until 31 August 2020 (at this stage), at various locations, to provide international students who are struggling to make ends meet with free groceries, fresh produce and prepared meals.
Lyndall Vandenberg, OzHarvest’s SA State Manager said that “This collaboration is all about true community spirit, where three important local organisations are working together to help and support vulnerable international students in South Australia. We are incredibly proud to be able to initiate this project to try and alleviate some of that stress.”
“While our bright, yellow food rescue vans continue to provide daily food relief to local charities supporting people in need, the Mobile Market is a temporary extension of this assistance. The food items selected for students to use are highly nutritious, staple items such as tinned tomatoes, pasta, and baked beans as well as an assortment of fresh fruit and vegetables.”
