OzHarvest Sunshine Coast is doing its part to help feed vulnerable community members in the Sunshine Coast while at the same time reducing the amount of food that finds its way into landfill. We are proud to be part of an initiative that seeks to lend a helping hand to those who are less fortunate and at the same time do our part to help protect the environment.
Since commencing operations in August 2014, over 300,000 of surplus quality food has been rescued and redistributed – the equivalent of 900,000 meals! At the same time, we have expanded our operations significantly – providing quality surplus food to over 40 charities, community organisations, churches, youth programs and schools from Gympie all the way down the Coast into Caloundra and the Hinterland.
OzHarvest Sunshine Coast continues to grow and diversify its activities, focusing even greater attention on advocacy and education. In 2020, we will expand our outreach into schools, the community and local businesses – spreading the message that food waste wastes everything and we can each be a part of the solution!
