DonateFood Rescue
OzHarvest Sunshine Coast and Gympie started in 2014 and operates as far north as Gympie, down the Coast and into the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. We rescue and redistribute over 15,000 kg of quality surplus food each month to charities, schools, community centres, youth programs, churches and other organisations helping to address the needs of vulnerable community members.
Volunteer
OzHarvest Sunshine Coast is fully volunteer led. With over 100 volunteers, we are able to have a substantial reach in our community in terms of scale and scope. If you are interested in volunteering with OzHarvest, please click the button below.
Cooking For A Cause
OzHarvest’s Cooking for a Cause is a hands-on cooking class open to corporate groups. Led by our talented OzHarvest chefs, teams get busy in the kitchen transforming rescued ingredients into gourmet meals, which then get delivered to local charities.
Group size: (min 5pax max 9pax)
Cost: $205 p/person – tax deductible.
Education Outreach
Our Education Outreach Program is key to raising awareness with school-age children and young adults about food and sustainability. Our tailored presentations to pre-school through to secondary school students demonstrate that we can all be food waste warriors and in the process, help reduce food waste at home and in our community.
FEAST
FEAST (Food Education and Sustainability Training) is a curriculum-aligned education program for primary and high schools, which explores the issue of food waste and its environmental impact, healthy eating and easy classroom cooking.
Like any good FEAST, it’s designed to be fun, engaging and filled with good food!
Find out more about the program and how it aligns with the Australian Curriculum below.
NEST
Our NEST program is an easy and fun way to learn healthy eating habits and how to cook simple and low-cost meals in just six weeks. Each NEST session is held at the same day and time each week for 2.5 hours. It includes fun interactive activities, practical cooking classes, and the sharing of a meal together.
OzHarvest NEST is aligned with the Australian Dietary Guidelines and works with everyone to set realistic goals around healthy eating, which are reviewed and revised each week, so real and lasting change can be made.
SunnyCoast Eats
Our local cookbook is an A-Z Guide for cooking with local food featuring 53 recipes that are easy to make, budget friendly and champion local ingredients. We’ve included tips on kitchen basics, food swaps and reducing food waste at home! Whether you’re a kitchen novice or pro, this go-to guide is for you! Up to half of all books printed will be donated to our recipient charities who support those in need. All proceeds will go back into our local operations, because it is all about locals helping locals!
